WNY VegFest and Niagara Falls
Posted on August 11, 2016
Last year the WNY VegFest in Buffalo, NY was in a large park with the vendors and food separated by a hill. This year we were split up by being indoors on a hockey rink and outdoors for the food. Even though it was warm inside it was nice not to have to worry about weather and the wind. There was plenty of food options including noodles from Yakisobas, and soft serve ice cream. We had delicious vanilla vegan cupcakes from Wheatberry Bake Shop. Some of the vendors included Compassion Co., Goods & Evil, Tamerlaine Farm Animal Sanctuary, and The Vegan Zombie.
We went to Amy's Place when we got into Buffalo, and I had the vegan Mac & Cheese and Vegan Wings. My daughter had the vegan B.L.T. It was so good that we came back the next day for their vegan breakfast all day and had the vegan French toast. If you are visiting Buffalo from out of town, make sure to stop by Amy's Place for a cheap vegan breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
The great thing about Buffalo is that it is only a half hour away from Niagara Falls. Last year we took the Maid of the Mist boat ride to see the falls up close and this year we parked in the Niagara Falls State Park (Parking Lot 1) and walked across the Rainbow Bridge into Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Niagara Falls on the Canadian side is more like an amusement park than a city.
We rode the Niagara SkyWheel to get a better view of the city and the falls. We then walked down to the Horseshoe Falls and witnessed people zip lining down the river close to the falls. After seeing the giant waterfall, we were wet and hungry, so we walked back to Subway to get a veggie delight for lunch. Several Indian and Chinese food places have vegan options.
Niagara Falls has plenty of other things to do like haunted houses, Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum, Lois Tussaud's Waxworks, Rock Legends Wax Museum, Movie Land Wax Museum, an indoor water park, casinos, and games.
I am looking forward to next years WNY VegFest. You can find out where we will be next on our events page.
